Yorgos’ monster FBM complete

This is a special project we have been working on for a wee bit of time. Yorgos, an ex BMXer with a fondness for FBM brand is one of the first bunch of people that rode fixed gear in Greece and after a long hiatus off the bike here he comes with this monster of a bike.

First things first, there is so much to say for FBM, handmade with love and stoke in New York – this is their everyday beater model called SWORD. Yorgos request was to use only quality parts and we tried to keep a minimalist look with a combination of black/silver anodized parts.

A whole new chapter should be written for Royce UK state of the art trilobe crankset. You can say so much about other brands but nothing comes anywhere near close to the quality of construction, design and anodization of Royce. It uses a trilobe sealed bearings bottom bracket, 144BCD internal mount screws design and it is made of 2014 alluminum. It is simply the stiffest and greatest crank in the world.

For wheels we laced Phil Wood ISO track hubs on H+ Son Formation Face high profile rims with Sapim Race spokes (3x rear, 2x front). Some people would call that wheelset oldschool but we think that it looks really nice – also we had to keep Yorgos massive size over reliable rims.

The rest of the build is rounded up with quality parts like the Paul Components seatpost on a IRD StingRay seatbolt with the Brooks Colt saddle, Cinelli MASH stem with a SubRosa Spunk bars, Izumi Super Toughness chain on Euro Asia Imports Standard 17t cog, Chris King headset, Panaracer Rib Mo tyres and Oury grips.
