Alex’s Surly Ogre adventure bike complete
It is always a great time building up Surly bikes. This one in particular is supposed to be a 29er adventure trail hunter but the ossom thing with Surlys is that they are so versatile you can turn them into anything. Alex request was a straight forward monster bike to commute in and also maybe do a bit of adventuring in the Far East where he lives most of the time.
First thing we wanted to get nuke proof was the wheels: we laced BLB Via disc hubs on Mavic 29er rims with Sapim spokes and use the Avid disc brakes which is the most reliable option for this kind of bikes. We decided to run the bike in SRAM 3×10 giving option both for the front teeth but also on the cassette. You can climb a wall on this bike. Sleek tyres by Continental for smooth rolling in asphalt and gravel.
For cockpit we chose a moon bar on a Cinelli DNA 31,8 stem giving the upright position and a Brooks saddle for extra comfort and style.
This bike is a massive XL for Alex’s incredible size. Excellent project that we gave our extra time and attention to complete for Alex.
Surly: there is no new black.
