Brovet: Γύρος των Αβάντων – fog, mountains and rain
For cyclists mountains are a fixation, not just a beautiful thing. They are covered in myths, hiding secrets and you should be aware of their conditions especially when you are climbing in winter, and Dirfi in Evoia in such conditions was just the epitomy of an epic ride. We enjoyed this Brovet, arguably super hard, it was a mental as well as a physical challenge for the few of us out there and each one
of us was there for their own personal reasons. And it was Rule #5 all the way, climbing and pacing, lots of do or die spots on the way. Highlights were the heavy rocky climp before Metoxi on the second day, sharing a bottle of single malt at the EOS hiking shelter, the foggy pass towards Kymi, souvlaki delivery on the highway and surely sharing the road with such a fine group of riders.
Congratulations to all. See you on the next one.
Thanks to Flapjacks for providing fuel for the climb.
Thanks to the greatest support crew: Christos, Tatiana and Tapper. Thanks also goes to Nikos Lagonikos and Alex from Castello Rosso.
