The 1896 Classic Marathon Race Revival is a street unsactioned fixed gear race that takes place along the Marathon route.
It is in celebration and memoriam of the epic bicycle race that took place during the first Modern Olympics held in Athens in 1896 and organized bi-annually (every two years) by 48:17 Athens.
Weekend Program:
Friday 9th May, 19:00, Vourvachi 5 (48×17 Shop)
– reception, meet and greed, registrations, drinks
Saturday 10th May, 17:00, (Kalimarmaro Stadium – after party at private villa, Chalandri)
– Race and after party
Sunday 11th, morning
– post race casual sightseeing walk for visitors and friends in central Athens
Participation is open to all amateur cyclists of all levels.

- You need a fixed gear bike (track bike) – with or without front brake. Single speed bikes not allowed. You can have any gearing, handlebar or equipment that suits you.
- Front brake finishers will receive a penalty of +min (TBC) to neutralise competition from brakeless.
- After registering you will receive via email prior to the race information with GXP route, details about the weekend and after party.
